The Local TV-owned CBS affiliate declined to discuss the departures, but Mike Matthews, who covered local government among other stories, said via Twitter that he left the station involuntarily. “We aren’t leaving because we want to,” Matthews wrote. “The station felt it was in their best interest if they wouldn’t renew my contract.”
Omari Fleming has signed on as an anchor and reporter at Fox’s WTXF Philadelphia, effective Nov. 1. He’ll contribute to several of the station’s news programs. Fleming is exiting the CBS station WREG-TV Memphis, where he has served as weekend anchor and general assignment reporter for 10 years. Prior to that, he was anchor and general assignment reporter for WAPT-TV (ABC) in Jackson, MS.
