Panasonic Withdraws From NAB Show 2021

Panasonic said today that it will not attend the upcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas. Carter Hoskins, the companys director, professional imaging, said in a statement: “In place of participating in-person, we’re planning to meet and connect with our valued customers via our digital platforms where we look forward to sharing our exciting announcements. We are confident a digital experience will be effective, similar to events we’ve hosted over the last 18 months.”

CBS Pumps Up Super Bowl Tech With 8K, AR

Fox says today that it’s teaming with Panasonic and Samsung Electronics to create what they call “an open, royalty-free dynamic metadata platform,” tentatively called HDR10+. Translation: They want the industry to have a common communications standard that would enable ultra-HD TVs, Blu-ray disc players, and set top boxes to dynamically adjust he brightness, color and contrast of a movie or show scene-by-scene — not just once for the entire production.
