Sen. Wicker Seeks Better NTIA-FCC Cooperation

The ranking member on the powerful Senate Commerce Committee wants the relationship between new FCC chair Jessica Rosenworcel and new NTIA head Alan Davidson to start out on the right foot. In a letter to both, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.), called on the FCC and the National Telecommunications & Information Administration to work together to better coordinate spectrum policy.

Wicker To Chair Senate Commerce Committee

As expected, Sen. Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) has been tapped to head the powerful Senate Commerce Committee, which has primary oversight of communications issues and the FCC. Wicker succeeds Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), who has been named majority whip for the new Congress.

Senators Call On FCC To Ease Up On JSAs

Twelve lawmakers told the FCC today they are “extremely disturbed” to learn that the FCC is conditioning grants of station transfer on broadcasters’ terminating JSAs before they would otherwise have to. The 12 said they were all supporters of the law grandfathering JSAs until 2025.
