ABC executives are finalizing a plan to reboot The View next fall, for the second consecutive year, with a flurry of changes that could include the departure of at least one of its regular hosts. While moderator Whoopi Goldberg will remain as the face of the struggling daytime talker, the future of two of her co-hosts, Nicolle Wallace and Rosie Perez, is in doubt.
ABC has put the brakes on a plan to fire Rosie Perez from The View, after Variety broke the news of the decision on Jan. 14. At the time, the network wasn’t ready to announce the co-host’s departure. According to a source familiar with ABC execs’ thinking, fear of “an Ann Curry situation” — a reference to NBC’s botched firing of the Today anchor in 2012 — led executives to reverse course and keep Perez on the network’s 11 a.m. talk show for now.
The View co-host Rosie Perez will return to the ABC show on Feb. 3 — putting to rest reports the actress was fired. Perez was scheduled to take a break from the show in January while she was in rehearsals for Larry David’s upcoming Fish in the Dark on Broadway. But her View return date had been unclear, stirring rumors she would not be rejoining Rosie O’Donnell, Whoopi Goldberg and Nicolle Wallace.

Perez had taken off the month of January to appear in the Broadway play Fish in the Dark, but it’s understood that she won’t be coming back once she’s done. A rep for The View denied that Perez would be leaving the show: “Her status with the show has not changed.”
