Despite pushing newsrooms temporarily into mostly remote production, set design vendors say COVID-19 won’t have a lasting effect on where sets were heading before the pandemic. They say viewers are likely to see more LED panels and walls, virtual sets and augmented and virtual reality usage in news studios. Live production workloads moving to virtualization, cloud

Business motives, including increased utilization and flexibility plus easier maintenance and scalability, are driving TV’s move to software. With SMPTE’s ST2110 suite and other standards reaching maturity and diffusing into the marketplace, it’s now becoming practical to support entire live production workloads on virtual machines.

In order to mitigate the effect of not attending NAB Show 2020, Ross will be running a series of online presentations, webinars and demonstrations to ensure that our partners and customers can still learn about our new solutions and how we remain committed to the live production industry.

NESN fuels live programming expansion with production automation

New England Sports Network recently tripled its news content, producing live programming from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. daily. It also did the unthinkable, automating production of its unpredictable post-game shows. An entire system from Ross Video, including camera robotics, switcher, graphics and NRCS, made the moves possible.

Multiviewers are in the midst of a rapid evolutionary phase spurred by the proliferation of signals that need monitoring and the IP transition. As the need for control across multiviewer screens increases, the technology is also becoming more integrated with other pieces of equipment.
