The Murdoch family’s new Fox needs Madison Avenue to buy commercials in an abundance of sports broadcasts. Seth Winter will take on the job of selling them. Winter, the former head of NBC Sports ad sales, is joining Fox in a similar role, taking over a critical position at the company as it focuses more intently on live programming and sports content.
Seth Winter, who as head of ad sales for NBC Universal’s sports group has been convincing marketers to pay premium prices for in-demand TV events such as Sunday Night Football and the Olympics, will be retiring at the end of the month. After more than a decade in the role, Winter will step back in October, but will remain on as an adviser through 2018. NBCU has not yet named a successor.
The ad sales division now comprises four content areas: entertainment, live programming, lifestyle and digital video. Also announced is a new center for marketing innovation called the Client Solutions Group.
Jim Hoffman, John Kelly and Seth Winter upped to executive vice presidents.
