The genre drama has been canceled after four seasons at the network. A year after seeing female lead Nicole Beharie exit the Friday procedural, season four averaged a 0.9 in the demo and 3.2 million total viewers — with seven days of DVR. That’s down considerably from the 20th Century Fox Television-produced drama’s third run and, even with returns from international sales, not enough to get the Tom Mison starrer to a fifth season.
We’re entering the third week of the new TV season, and already a number of shows are in trouble. Few of them will probably make it to the November sweeps. What’s interesting about this fall is that not all those shows are new ones.
Fox has renewed the supernatural drama for an 18-episode third season. Clifton Campbell will takeover as showrunner.
Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, the home video branch handling the Sleepy Hollow digital, DVD and Blu-ray release, issued their own statement following marketing firm ThinkJam’s apology and retraction after launching a “Sleepy Hollow Headless Day” home video campaign on the same day that a second captured American journalist was killed by decapitation.

Fox has made a slight scheduling change in the comings and goings of its Monday dramas, and will now give rookie Sleepy Hollow a two-hour finale. Kevin Bacon drama The Following is still getting a second-season premiere on Sunday, Jan. 19 (following Fox Sports’ coverage of the NFC Championship) but will now not start on its regular night of Monday until Jan. 27.

Fox Renews ‘Sleepy Hollow’ For 2nd Season
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will ride again in 2014, as Fox has renewed its freshman hit Sleepy Hollow. As is the case with the current order, Season 2 will consist of 13 episodes.
