Is An ABC-NBC Duopoly Coming To Topeka?

Maybe so. PBC Networks, New Vision’s virtual duopoly partner in Youngstown and Savannah, is buying ABC affiliate KTKA in Topeka, Kan., where it could be operated by New Vision in tandem with its NBC affiliate there, KSNT. The seller in Topeka is the owner of the local paper, which has no other broadcast interests. Price was $1.5 million, according to one source.

Community Newspaper Holdings is selling WXTX Columbus, Ga. (Fox); WSFX Wilmington, N.C. (Fox); WUPV Richmond, Va. (CW) and WFXG Augusta-Aiken, S.C. (Fox), to Thomas Henson for $24 million and the assumption of $50 million in debt.

Una Vez Mas Closes On Texas Stations Buy

Spanish-language broadcaster Una Vez Mas Texas Holdings has closed on its previously announced purchase of KNWS Houston and KLDT Dallas for $24.8 million, according to broker Kalil & Co.  Seller Johnson Broadcasting, which had fallen into bankruptcy, has no other broadcast interests. The bankruptcy court had approved the sale a year ago. Una Vez Mas is headed by Terry Crosby and Randy Nonberg and backed by Alta Communications, a Boston-based private equity firm.
