Through nine weeks of the new season — and heading into the holiday season lull of repeats and specials — Fox is still the leading network among key 18-49 viewers. The network, which has boosted its fall fortunes with new shows New Girl and The X Factor, is averaging a Nielsen 3.0 rating among 18-49 viewers (3.89 million), from Sept. 19 through Nov. 20.
Due to the expansion of The X Factor, the Zooey Deschanel comedy will return in its usual time slot next month. The season finale of Terra Nova has been scheduled for Dec. 19 at 8 p.m.
Broadcast hasn’t seen so many possible breakout hits in years. At the start of the new season three shows are going gangbusters: CBS’s 2 Broke Girls and Fox’s The New Girl and The X Factor. Whether they can maintain the momentum remains to be seen.
New fall series featuring women are paying off well for the broadcast networks, led by CBS’s 2 Broke Girls and Fox’s New Girl.
The network adds new series, including J.J. Abrams’ drama Alcatraz, comedy The New Girl and Bones spinoff The Finder. Human Target, The Chicago Code, Breaking In, Traffic Light and Lie to Me are canceled.
