This article has been updated to reflect new information. A transmitter failure at Meredith’s Phoenix CBS affil had transmitter problems yesterday that took it off the air as the basketball tournament kicked off. A station GM hopes to have the signal restored by early this afternoon.
The Kansas City pubcaster’s main transmitter went down around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, which may have affected some viewers’ ability to watch the season finale of the hit series Downton Abbey. Engineers were able to get a backup transmitter to work by 7 p.m., the station reported on its website, but with a weaker signal. People trying to view the station over the air may have gotten a choppy signal or none at all.
