Trayvon Martin shooter George Zimmerman is suing NBC over the network’s botched editing of his 911 tape. Zimmerman’s attorneys are about to file a complaint against NBC and its top executives, naming news president Steve Capus and correspondent Ron Allen, who was the reporter on the scene for the broadcast on Today on March 27.
The network’s coverage of the George Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin controversy costs reporter Lilia Luciano her job less than two weeks after the firing of Jeff Burnside.
WTVJ Reporter Fired Over Edited 911 Call
The Miami NBC O&O has acknowledged that it made the same questionable edits to George Zimmerman’s call to police that were widely attacked when the network aired a similarly misleading clip on the Today show last month. Jeff Burnside, a 13-year station veteran, was fired and two other employees were disciplined.
