Ousted Fox News host Tucker Carlson is seen on newly revealed video bashing the network’s streaming service, which he produced a bevy of content for during his tenure at the company.
Tucker Carlson hasn’t left Fox Corp. quite yet. The company’s Fox News Media unit has hours and hours of various specials and original programming the controversial anchor developed for the subscription-based streaming service Fox Nation, and doesn’t appear poised to take any of that content down. The Carlson-created options currently available on the service are manifold.
The former Fox News host posted a video on Twitter Wednesday shortly after 8 p.m. ET, the time his Fox show used to begin, that talked about a lack of honest political debate in the media. Carlson said one of the things he noticed, “when you step away from the noise for a few days,” is how nice some people are, and how hilarious some are. Fox fired its most popular personality on Monday without explanation, less than a week after settling a lawsuit concerning the spread of lies about the 2020 presidential election.
Tucker Carlson has long been an inescapable presence in culture — the conservative news host’s show Tucker Carlson Tonight was a frequent chart-topper among the cable news group and clips from his Fox News broadcasts often trended on social media. The network said in a press release Monday that the last program of Tucker Carlson Tonight aired last Friday. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the press release from the network said.
Fox News Media just released the following statement:
“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor. Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 p.m. ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating Fox News personalities until a new host is named.
In the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Washington, the media companies demanded that the Justice Department’s Office for U.S. Attorneys and the FBI “promptly” provide copies of the footage from Jan. 6, which they characterized as “the most significant assault on the Capitol since the War of 1812.”
They are among the names submitted this week as potential witnesses by Fox and Dominion Voting Systems, although it doesn’t guarantee that they will appear in court. It still isn’t certain there will be a trial. Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric Davis is expected to make a summary judgment ruling in favor of either side or to go forward with a trial.
In a rare rebuke of the Fox News ratings leader, the White House said Carlson is “not credible.”
“It was not peaceful. It was an abomination,” Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) said as the Hill’s police chief slammed the Fox News host for falsely portraying the attack.
