NBC Sinks ‘Ultimate Slip ‘N’ Slide’

NBC has scrapped reality competition series The Ultimate Slip N’ Slide. The show will not be returning to production after pausing on June 2 as a result of a crew member testing positive for giardia, the network said Friday. Filming on The Ultimate Slip N’ Slide had been almost completed when the shutdown happened. According to sources, the logistics and costs of restarting production to complete the season proved prohibitive.

NBC’s ‘Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide’ Will Not Air This Summer After Diarrhea Outbreak-Forced Shutdown

Following an outbreak of a parasitic infection that shut down production and led NBC to yank the show from a planned post-Olympics premiere date, Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide will not air at all this summer, the network confirmed. NBC and Universal Television Alternative Studio, which is producing the show, are still committed to finding a new, safe location to film the $18 million show and get it on the air, but there is currently no plan in place for resuming production or an estimated window during which the show will premiere.

‘Family Game Fight!’ Gets Post-Olympics Premiere

NBC penned in its special series debut after the Tokyo Olympics with Family Game Fight!, hosted by Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard. The reality game show series is set to premiere Sunday, Aug. 8 at 10:30 p.m. ET, immediately after the Olympics Closing Ceremony. There will be a time-period premiere with an all-new episode on Wednesday, Aug. 11 at 9 p.m. Ultimate Slip ‘N Slide was originally slated for the post-Closing Ceremony premiere with Family Game Fight! taking the Aug. 11 spot. However, due to a giardia outbreak during the water-based game show’s production, NBC ultimately decided to nix the premiere.
