‘Virgin River’ Dethrones ‘Suits’ In Streaming Rankings

Suits‘ three-month stranglehold on the top of the Nielsen streaming charts has come to an end. Netflix’s Virgin River moved ahead of Suits and claimed the No. 1 overall spot for the week of Sept. 11-17. The drama, whose fifth season premiered Sept. 7, improved by 7% from the previous week with 2.05 billion minutes of viewing. Suits, meanwhile, slipped by 19.5% to a still very strong 1.9 billion minutes and was second overall. The former USA Network series had spent the previous 12 weeks at No. 1.

‘Virgin River’ Tops Nielsen Streaming Ranking; ‘Wheel of Time’ And ‘Lioness’ Rise

For the week of Sept. 4, Virgin River racked up 1.9 billion minutes viewed across 52 total episodes. Netflix’s One Piece in turn dipped to No. 2, with 1.4 billion minutes viewed/eight episodes, followed by Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time (up one spot with 515 million minutes viewed/12 available episodes), Netflix’s Dear Child (504 million minutes/six episodes) and Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building (470 million minutes/26 available episodes).

Netflix’s ‘Virgin River’ Maintains No. 1 Streaming Spot

For the second consecutive week Netflix’s Virgin River was the most watched program on the major U.S. SVOD services, attracting 1.270 billion viewing minutes during the week of July 19-25, according to Nielsen. Virgin River was the only SVOD program to garner over 1 billion viewing minutes for that week.
