Kitty Lensman, chief operating officer of the Public Media Connect partnership that runs Cincinnati and Dayton public TV stations, will become president and general manager of WCET, WPTD and WPTO on July 1.
Long before Big Bird, Barney or Mystery!, the Cincinnati PBS station debuted on airwaves 60 years ago with a children’s show called Tel-A-Story. That broadcast from a studio in Music Hall on July 26, 1954, could be seen on only 500 TVs able to get UHF channels 14-83.
Executive VP and station manager Jack Dominic told coworkers and volunteers at PBS stations WCET Cincinnati and Dayton’s WPTD that he’s stepping down before March 1. Dominic, who turns 67 in January, was involved in all aspects of WCET, including the national Cincinnati Pops and CSO specials and other local programming through the years.
