Wendy Williams kicked off its 10th season with a 1.4 in the week ending Sept. 24, up 40% over the prior week. Live with Kelly and Ryan tops Megyn Kelly Today in the metered markets by 21%. Other strong week-to-week growth was turned in by The Real (+14%) and Dr. Oz (+10%) and Funny You Should Ask (+25%).
Good Starts For ‘Judy,’ ‘Bench,’ ‘Minute"
Judge Judy was tops in both courtrooms and all of syndication, with her Hot Bench coming in second in the genre, while Right This Minute got underway with a 15% weekly rise.

Despite being in reruns on all five days, Phil clocked its biggest rating since June in the week ending Sept. 3, a 3.0 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen, up 3% from the week before.

What A Difference A Year Makes
Talk leader Dr. Phil saw its ratings skyrocket 23% from the same week one year ago to a first-place 2.7 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating. The only other show in the category with a double-digit gain was sophomore true-crime series Crime Watch Daily, which though also in reruns, shot up 13% to a 0.9. On the down side, Ellen DeGeneres declined 6% for the week and 12% for the year to a new season-low 1.5 with encore episodes.
‘Wheel’ Rolls Down Into Third Among Games
It’s usually Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy in that order, but not for the week of July 2. Jeopardy nudged past Wheel for second-place honors, while Feud chalked up another win in the syndication category.

This marks the eighth year in a row that Judy has been syndication’s highest-rated strip overall in the May sweep. Dr. Phil easily led the talk shows as it has in all 17 major sweeps since November 2011. Family Feud logged a 6.3 and outplayed the game shows, while Entertainment Tonight extended its winning streak among magazines to 106 sweeps, dating back to 1990.
