The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences unveiled nominations for the 35th annual News and Documentary Emmy Awards.Regional nominees are WTHR, WFAA, WISN, KXTX, WNBC, KING, KNXV and KXAS. PBS led networks with 43 nominations followed by CBS with 42. The awards will be presented Sept. 30 during a ceremony at Frederick P. Rose Hall at New York’s Lincoln Center.
The planned departure of Anne State from WITI doesn’t appear to have caused too many ripples among Milwaukee viewers, who nonetheless do have favorites among local on-air talent.

As Milwaukee television stations vie for a greater share of an ever-shrinking local news audience, Hearst-owned ABC affiliate WISN has decided to go hyper-local under a new partnership with Patch.com.

Paywall Not Slowing Milwaukee’s JSOnline
In Milwaukee, the market’s online leader, the Journal Sentinel, implemented its metered paywall in January and so far has seen digital subscriptions and revenue grow. Coupled with new apps as part of its JS Everywhere initiative, the paper is intent upon keeping its grip on Milwaukee’s digital scene. But WISN, WITI and WDJT are closing the gap.
Milwaukee News Race Tight Between WISN, WTMJ
Three TV stations in Milwaukee are not only battling it out in the November ratings, but also for Facebook likes. At last check, WISN has 28,605 likes, WTMJ has 43,660, but WITI comes out on top with a whopping 85,153, ranked No.6 in Lost Remote’s leaderboard of the most popular Facebook pages in local TV. Impressive for the nation’s 34th largest market.
Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Milwaukee will debut a 30-minute longer 10 p.m. newscast on Jan. 24.
