WMTW, Hearst’s ABC affiliate in Portland, Maine, leads its market in social media actions over the last six months according to data from audience insight firm Shareablee. Amy Beveridge, WMTW’s news director, says the station’s use of Facebook Live during breaking news and severe weather is one reason for its success.
This fall the Hearst Television-owned ABC affiliate in Maine will move inot a new facility that’s large enough to eventually house all of its operations under one roof. The station currently has a headquarters in Auburn and studios in Portland.
Starting Sept. 9, The Hearst-owned ABC affiliate will offer a 5 p.m. broadcast. It will include anchor Tracy Sabol and meteorologist Roger Griswold.
Rentrak Corp. has signed a StationView Essentials contract with Hearst Television Inc. for four of its stations — WESH (NBC) and WKCF (CW) Orlando, Fla.; WLKY (CBS) Louisville, Ky.; and WMTW (ABC), Portland, Maine.
