The Fox-owned New York stations will move their transmitters to the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere early next year.

Fox Television Stations has asked the FCC to continue its temporary waiver of the newspaper-broadcast crossownership rule allowing its ownership of the New York Post, Fox O&O WNYW and MNT affiliate WWOR.

Fox O&O WNYW was tops in social rankings for the New York City market from Jan. 9 to Feb. 8. according to Share Rocket. WNYW increased its lead to a full 10 points over second-place ABC-owned WABC on the strength of its Facebook page.

When Russ Salzberg left the role of presenting latenight sports in April, Byron Harmon, the New York Fox O&Os news director, replaced him with … no one. Many stations around the nation previously had made similar moves, but this was a first for New York. “It gave us an opportunity to look at how we present sports at night, plain and simple,” Harmon said.

The New York Fox O&O’s Good Day New York says it has invited Mayor Bill de Blasio “over a hundred times,” to no avail, according to Lew Leone, WNYW’s VP-GM. Leone said: “Since we’ve asked so many times, it feels like a calculated boycott.”

Fox-owned WNYW New York saw a big jump in late news viewership over the same time period last year, beating out some perennial favorites and almost doubling the number of eyeballs watching.

Good Day New York is hosted by Greg Kelly and Rosanna Scotto and airs from 7 to 9 a.m. on Fox-owned WNYW New York. So far in 2014, the show is No. 1 among adults 18-49 with a 1.035 rating, beating out NBC’s Today Show (.917) and ABC’s Good Morning America (.825).
