CBS News and Stations choses the former news director of WTKR and WGNT, the E.W. Scripps-owned CBS and CW affiliates in Norfolk, Va., to take over journalism at the duopoly.
The company veteran is moving from KOVR-KMAX Sacramento, Calif., to oversee WBZ and WSBK starting Oct. 25.

Viewers who tuned in to the 10 o’clock news on WSBK Boston Thursday night may have seen the future of local broadcasting. The question is whether they knew what they were watching. Near the end of the telecast, the station aired an interview with Jeff Raider, founder of Harry’s, the online razor retailer. The segment ran during what is normally a commercial break but resembled journalism, with an interviewer posing questions to a business leader. In fact, the piece was something in between — not quite journalism yet not exactly advertising.

The veteran local TV executive is returning to the stations where he began his career, succeeding Ed Piette who is retiring.
The CBS-owned independent plans to shift its half-hour 9 p.m. newscast to an hour later beginning Sept. 19. In that time slot, the newscast will compete with ratings powerhouse WFXT and WLVI, which airs news from sister station WHDH.
CBS-owned independent WSBK Boston will be joining the My Network TV programming service in the coming weeks, according to a knowledgable source. WBIN, licensed to Derry, N.H., is the current MNT station in the market.
