Newport Television-owned stations in Harrisburg, Pa.; Albany, N.Y.; and Syracuse, N.Y., have been restored to local Verizon FiOS systems over the weekend after the two companies reached a new retransmission deal.
The Newport-owned ABC affiliate is telling viewers that view the station via Verizon’s FiOS service that they may not receive the channel after Thursday.The two companies are in the midst of retransmission consent contract negotiations. The current contract expires Thursday.

James Tortora has resigned as news director of Newport Television’s ABC affiliate in Syracuse, N.Y., according to the station’s GM Theresa Underwood. Citing company policy, Underwood would not say when Tortora resigned. The station named assignment editor Roger Mirabito interim news director while it conducts a search for Tortora’s replacement.
