Changes In The Executive Suites At Fox

Mike Nelson succeeds Joseph Dorrego as CFO of Fox television Stations, while Dorrego becomes chief investor relations officer and EVP of corporate initiatives at the new Fox Corp.

Fox Corp. made two executive appointments Thursday.

Mike Nelson

At Fox Television Stations (FTS), Mike Nelson was named executive vice president and chief financial officer. The appointment, which was made by FTS CEO Jack Abernethy, will be effective on March 1. In this new role, Nelson will oversee all financial functions for FTS and report to Abernethy.

Nelson succeeds Joseph Dorrego, who has been named chief investor relations officer and EVP of corporate initiatives at Fox Corp., the company to be spun-off in connection with 21st Century Fox’s (21CF) merger with The Walt Disney Co. In this role, Dorrego will lead the development and execution of Fox Corp.’s investor relations program and oversee various initiatives for the company.

Abernethy said of Nelson: “During his 26-year tenure at Fox, Mike has made significant contributions, developed an impressive track record of proven leadership and will be an invaluable asset to FTS. He is known as a strategic executive with strong financial acumen, and we are all looking forward to working with him in his new role.”

Currently, Nelson is EVP and CFO for Twentieth Century Fox Film. There, he manages all finance responsibilities, including theatrical, home entertainment, television distribution, deal analysis, production, technology, accounting and corporate compliance. Prior to this, Nelson was EVP and controller for 20th Century Fox Film. Previously, he held a variety of executive finance and accounting positions for the film studio. Nelson began his career as an auditor at Coopers & Lybrand in Los Angeles, CA.

A graduate of the UCLA, Nelson holds a Bachelor of Arts in business economics.

Joseph Dorrego

Dorrego currently is chief financial officer for Fox Television Stations. His appointment was made by John Nallen, chief operating officer of Fox Corp., to whom Dorrego will report.

Nallen said: “Joe will play an important role as Fox Corp. looks to engage and inform shareholders and the financial community. Not only is he incredibly familiar with Fox’s portfolio of assets and our vision for the company’s future, Joe also possesses a deep understanding of our industry that will enable him to highlight our unique position in the market.”

Previously, Dorrego was VP of investor relations for 21CF, where he assisted with the coordination and execution of the investor relations program and served as a liaison between senior corporate and operating unit executives and the investment community.

Dorrego earlier was VP of finance, overseeing 21CF’s financial planning and analysis functions. He began his tenure at 21CF (then News Corp.) in 2004 as the director of SEC reporting and accounting policy.

He began his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLC in the business advisory services group, serving clients in the telecommunications and professional sports industries.

Dorrego holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Salisbury University and received an MBA from New York University.
