David Amy Named Television Music License Committee Chair

Today, the Television Music License Committee (TVMLC) appointed David B. Amy, a veteran executive in the local TV broadcast industry, as its chairman. TVMLC is a nonprofit trade association that negotiates music performing rights licenses on behalf of the local commercial television industry and leads efforts to promote a competitive market for music performing rights.

Retired as vice chairman of Sinclair Broadcast Group on May 31, 2019, Amy now serves as a consultant to the company. During his tenure at Sinclair, he also held the positions of executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. His 30 years of television broadcast experience included actively developing and executing the evaluation and acquisition of television stations across the country.

Amy succeeds Charles “Chuck” Sennett who served the TVMLC for decades as its chair and recently retired from Tribune Media.

“The entire committee is so grateful for Chuck’s many years of service and dedication to the committee and welcomes Dave as Committee chair,” said Janet McHugh, TVMLC executive director. “We are so pleased that Dave has agreed to take on this new and important role after supporting the Committee for many years. His knowledge of the local TV broadcast industry, financial acumen and experience in working with the Committee will be invaluable to our mission.”

Amy is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh’s MBA program with a bachelor’s degree from Robert Morris University. He has served on numerous corporate and nonprofit boards, including Acrodyne Communications, G1440 Holdings, Visionair and Jadoo Power Associates and is currently chairman of CyperSpa Inc. and the Maryland Science Center. He has served as TVMLC secretary and has been a member for nearly 20 years.
