Tribune And Charter Reach Retrans Deal

The new contract covers Tribune’s 42 television stations and cable network WGN America.

Tribune Broadcasting, a subsidiary of Tribune Media, and Charter Communications today announced that they have reached a comprehensive agreement to restore Tribune Broadcasting’s 42 television stations and carriage of the company’s cable entertainment network, WGN America, to Spectrum’s cable systems.

Tribune’s stations have been dark on Charter’s systems since Jan. 2, affecting some 6 million viewers.

The companies issued the following joint statement regarding the agreement:

“We  are  pleased  to  have  reached  this  agreement  that  will  return  Tribune  Broadcasting’s local

television stations and WGN America to Spectrum customers and Tribune’s viewers.” Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Thought that this dispute wasn’t going to last very long. At 12:20PM I checked when I heard a deal was reached for WXMI Fox17.
