Arleda James New KCRA General Sales Manager

She joins the Hearst NBC affiliate in Sacramento, Calif., from WHBQ Memphis where she was director of sales.

Arleda James, a sales executive with experience at television stations across five states, has been named general sales manager of KCRA, the Hearst Television NBC affiliate serving the Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto, Calif., television market. The move returns her to her native northern California, where she has multigenerational family ties. The appointment is effective Nov. 9.

James joins KCRA from Cox Media Group, where she spent six years, most recently at WHBQ Memphis, where, as director of sales, she led strategic sales development with a focus on enhancing the customer experience. She moved to WHBQ from WSOC Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was local sales manager.

Before that, she was local sales manager at WFOX Jacksonville, Fla. She began her media sales career as an account manager with the Savannah Morning News in Savannah, Ga., later moving to WSAV, Savannah’s NBC affiliate.

Before her media career, James worked for Hornblower Cruises & Events as assistant director of food and beverage and, later, for celebrity chefs Jeremiah Tower of Stars and Traci Des Jardins of Jardiniere.

James holds a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from the University of Phoenix and studied humanities at Diablo Valley College and the health professions at San Francisco State University. She also participated in the National Association of Broadcasters’ management development program.
