Bill Poplin WSFA’s New General Sales Manager

Raycom Media’s NBC affiliate WSFA Montgomery, Ala. (DMA 124), has hired Bill Poplin to be its general sales manager. Poplin is currently the general manager/general sales manager at Raycom’s WPGX Panama City, Fla., a post he’s held since August 2017.

“Bill brings a proven record of multi-platform success to WSFA 12 News,” said Mark Bunting, General Manager of WSFA 12 News. “In just one year under Bill’s leadership as the General Manager/General Sales Manager at WPGX in Panama City, the station has improved to one of Raycom Media’s top performing stations.”

Prior to joining Raycom Media, Poplin held leadership positions with several broadcast and cable operations based in and around North and South Carolina. He started his career as an account executive for WPDE and WWMB in Myrtle Beach, S.C., where his station launched one of the first UPN affiliates in the country. He then spent several years in national sales for Katz TV and local sales management for WFXI-WYDO in Greenville, N.C.

In 2006, Poplin was named general manager/general sales manager for Suddenlink Media (now Altice) for 10 years.

Poplin has a Bachelor of Science degree from Barton College in Wilson, N.C.
