Joe Freni Upped To KSTW Seattle Station Manager

CBS News and Stations moves him up from vice president and director of sales and marketing to oversee the CW affiliate.

CBS News and Stations-owned CW affiliate KSTW Seattle has promoted Joe Freni to vice president and station manager.

Freni assumes his new role, effective immediately, after having served as KSTW’s vice president and director of sales and marketing since 2017. Prior to that, he was the station’s local sales manager for three years. He joined KSTW as national sales manager in 2012.

Tom Canedo, president, CBS Stations, said: “Throughout his nearly 10-year career with The CW Seattle, Joe has done a terrific job of earning the respect and trust of his colleagues, the station’s clients and community partners. With Kevin Walsh — the longtime general manager of both our San Francisco and Seattle businesses — now 100% focused on the Bay Area, we are pleased to place the leadership responsibilities for our Seattle properties in Joe’s experienced and very capable hands.”

Prior to joining KSTW, Freni worked for the Katz Media Group, first as an account executive for seven years, then as a team manager from 2010 to 2012.

A Seattle area native, Freni earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising from Washington State University.
