John Cook Named WXYZ-WMYD Sales Director

Scripps-owned WXYZ (ABC) and WMYD (MNT) Detroit has hired John Cook as its new director of sales. He joins from WDIV Detroit, where he was local sales manager.

A veteran to media sales, Cook brings more than 25 years of industry experience and spent the last seven years at WDIV in several sales management roles, including national sales manager, digital sales manager and new business sales manager.

Prior to joining WDIV, Cook  worked in print media in Detroit and Cleveland. He holds an associate of applied business in business management technology from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.

Cook will start in his new role on Jan. 19. “I couldn’t be more excited to join Scripps and lead the sales charge at WXYZ and WMYD,” he said. “Detroit is a great television market, and it is a true honor to join such professionals in creating innovative solutions for our clients across all of our platforms.”
