Michele DeSelms Named WOOD Community Strategy Manager

Nexstar NBC affiliate WOOD Grand Rapids, Mich. (DMA 45), has appointed Michele DeSelms community strategy manager. This role includes overseeing the station’s Connecting with Community brand and partnerships, as well as nonprofit alliances and community outreach projects. DeSelms will help shape the future of the community engagement opportunities with coverage both on-air and online.

DeSelms made Grand Rapids her home in 1998 to help launch the first 10 p.m. newscast at WXMI. There she became the primary anchor for 18 years. Prior to that she anchored in Columbus, Ohio; Rockford, Ill.; and Lexington, Ky.

Most recently DeSelms worked with Mattawan Public Schools, Michigan Department of Corrections, Amway Corporate, River Bank Run, Kids’ Food Basket Ready to Run and more in helping to present their stories on social media.

Congrats Michelle on your new role with Wood TV. She was a pretty good anchor for WXMI Fox17 when it made it’s the debut 21 years ago everyone has left that was there for the start her co-anchor for most of her 18 years left a few months after she left Chris Frank in the fall of 2017.
