Migdalia Figueroa Named WTMO GM

The Telemundo Station Group picks the former VP of news at WTVJ Miami to lead its Orlando operations.

The Telemundo Station Group today appointed Migdalia Figueroa president and general manager of its WTMO Orlando, Fla. (DMA 18). Effective immediately, Figueroa is responsible for leading all station operations including news/digital, sales, marketing/promotions, human resources, community affairs, and technology/operations.

She is leaving her role as vice president of news of NBC O&O WTVJ Miami. She reports to Manuel Martinez, president of the Telemundo Station Group.

A journalist and seasoned broadcast professional with 30 years of experience in network and local news, Figueroa joined NBCUniversal in 2005 and has held numerous roles with increasing responsibility at the Telemundo Station Group and at NBC/Telemundo owned stations.

Before WTVJ, Figueroa was senior vice president of content and branding for the Telemundo Station Group for two years, and the VP of news for Telemundo’s WSCV Miami from 2005 to 2010.

Figueroa has also held numerous newsroom roles at Univision Network. A multiple-time Suncoast Emmy Award-winner and Silver Circle Award recipient, Figueroa launched her career in broadcast journalism in Puerto Rico as a news producer for WSJN San Juan. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of Puerto Rico.
