Mike Lewis Named GM Of Fox Charlotte Duopoly

Fox Television Stations moves him from its WTTG-WDCA Washington to lead its WJZY-WMYT combo in North Carolina.

Mike Lewis today was appointed vice president and general manager of the Fox duopoly in Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 23), which consists of WJZY (Fox) and WMYT (MNT). Lewis assumes this position immediately, reporting directly to Jack Abernethy, CEO of Fox Television Stations. Lewis succeeds Mike McClain, who became GM of WOFL Orlando, Fla., in July.

In making the announcement, Abernethy stated, “Mike has done a great job for us in sales and I know that his experience and passion for the business will ensure the success of these important television stations.”

Since 2007, Lewis has been VP-general sales manager of WTTG-WDCA, Fox’s duopoly in Washington. Prior to that, he was the general sales manager of WKMG Orlando, Fla., and, previously, the VP-general sales manager at the formerly Fox-owned WRBC and MyFoxAL.com in Birmingham, Ala.

Before that, Lewis was local and national sales manager for WBBM Chicago. Earlier in his career, Lewis held the positions of national sales manager at WUPA Atlanta; local sales manager at WHP-WLYH Harrisburg, Pa.; and regional account manager at WRGB in Albany, N.Y. He began his career as an account executive for WNYT Albany, N.Y.

Lewis added, “Leading WJZY and WMYT is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to helping further the growth of these stations’ market influence and prominence.”
