NAB Appoints Three To Boards Of Directors

RaMona Alexander, vice president and general manager of WDBD Jackson, Miss., and Dan York, president and chief executive officer of Cox Media Group (CMG), were appointed to the NAB Television Board of Directors, and Rob Babin, senior vice president, head of radio for CMG, was appointed to the NAB Radio Board of Directors, effectively immediately. The appointments were made by NAB TV Board Chair Emily Barr and NAB Radio Board Chair Dave Santrella, respectively, in accordance with NAB bylaws.

Alexander is vice president and general manager of WDBD, the Fox affiliate in her hometown of Jackson owned by American Spirit Media. She is also part of the management team that oversees WLOO, the local MNT affiliate through a joint sales agreement with Tougaloo College. Additionally, Alexander is responsible for program acquisitions at American Spirit Media.

Before joining WDBD, Alexander worked as a corporate broadcast trainer for Gray Media’s TV stations and in executive sales positions for broadcasters including Fox Television Stations and Local TV. She began her career at WJTV Jackson, Miss.

Alexander holds a B.A. in liberal arts from Saint Joseph University and graduated from the NAB Leadership Training Program. She is pursuing additional studies at Harvard Business School Online. She is a member of the Fox Board of Governors, the Executive Board of the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters and the National Association of Black Journalists.

York joined CMG in spring 2020 as president and CEO and is responsible for managing the company’s TV, radio, digital and national advertising platforms and overseeing CMG’s long-term strategic priorities.

Previously, York helped build AT&T and DirecTV’s video business over 15 years, serving most recently as chief content officer and senior executive vice president, and previously as president, content and advertising sales. Prior to joining AT&T, he was senior vice president of programming and development at In Demand Networks, a joint venture owned by Comcast, Charter Communications and Cox Communications. He started his career at Home Box Office, where he spent more than 12 years in various management positions.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

York has served on the boards of numerous companies, including the Tennis Channel and the Game Show Network. He currently is on the board of the Cox Media Group and the T. Howard Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing diversity in the media industry. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Michigan State University.

Babin is senior vice president, head of radio for Cox Media Group. Based in Atlanta, he is responsible for the profitability, strategic direction and operational execution of CMG’s 65 radio stations in 11 markets across the country.

Babin has 20 years of experience with CMG leading various business units and markets for the company. During his tenure at CMG, his teams have earned two NAB Service to America Awards and three Marconi Radio Awards. Before joining CMG, Babin worked in the Baton Rouge and New Orleans radio markets.

Babin is on the board of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters and the Radio Advertising Bureau, and previously served on the board of the Florida Association of Broadcasters. He studied communications at Southeastern Louisiana University and received a certification in strategic innovation from Georgia State University.
