Nexstar Ups Robert Simone To WWLP GM

The station management veteran is moving from the GM post at WLNS Lansing, Mich., to lead WWLP (NBC), EWLP (CW) and

Nexstar Media Group today promoted Robert “Bob” Simone to vice president and general manager of WWLP (NBC), EWLP (CW) and all associated digital services, including, serving Springfield, Mass. (DMA 108). Simone assumes his new responsibilities immediately and reports to Doug Davis, Nexstar senior vice president and regional manager.

A Springfield native, Simone returns home to lead WWLP, the station where he began his broadcasting career over three decades ago. He is an industry veteran who has significant experience in station general management, content development and directing market-leading local television and digital operations.

From 2012 to 2018, he was VP-GM of Nexstar’s WLNS Lansing, Mich., where he also had oversight of the services agreements with Shield Media’s WLAJ-CW-5.

Before joining WLNS, Simone was VP-GM of KMSB-KTTU Tucson, Ariz., from 2009 to 2012. Earlier in his career, he was VP-GM WTXF Philadelphia and KDVR Denver.

Simone is a graduate of West Springfield High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Western New England University in Springfield.
