Ramar Communications Sells Lubbock Stations

KJTV and a translator go to SagamoreHill Broadcasting, while KLCW, KMYL-LD and KXTQ go to Gray Television.

Ramar Communications said Monday that it has sold all of its television stations in the Lubbock, Texas, television market in two deals, the terms of which were not disclosed.

Ramar sold KJTV (Fox) and translator KJTV-CD to SagamoreHill Broadcasting, which owns network-affiliated television stations in nine markets.

And Ramar also sold KLCW (CW), KMYL-LD (MNT) and KXTQ-CD (Telemundo) to Gray Television, which includes KCBD Lubbock, Texas, in its portfolio of stations.

Subject to receipt of regulatory and other approvals, the parties anticipate closing these transactions simultaneously in the coming months. Kalil & Co. represented Ramar in these transactions.

Ramar will continue to operate its Lubbock radio stations and Albuquerque TV stations. Ramar is a privately held company founded by Ray Moran in 1972.

President Brad Moran said: “As we start our 40th year in December I can think of no better companies to be a good steward of these stations and serve the Lubbock area than my longtime friends at SagamoreHill and Gray Media. Our employees, some of which have worked for the company since 1972, will have the chance to join two well-established broadcasters. I especially want to thank the clients and viewers for trusting us for so many years.”
