WSMV Names Sales Director/Station Manager

WSMV, Meredith Corp.’s NBC affiliate in Nashville (DMA 27), announced today that it has appointed Steve Watt director of sales and station manager, effective July 29.

He will be responsible for overseeing all revenue operations, including both on-air and digital. Watt returns to Nashville from KSHB Kansas City, Mo. He will report to General Manager Rene LaSpina.

“I am very excited to welcome Steve back to Nashville and look forward to his leadership on the WSMV team,” said LaSpina. “Steve is a proven leader who has achieved record-setting revenue and profitability during his more than 30 years of broadcast experience, 13 of which he spent here in Nashville. He is the perfect person to fill this role for us”

Watt was VP-GM of WKRN Nashville. He started at WKRN as local sales manager in 2004 and worked his way up through the ranks to become the station’s top executive. Watt led the WKRN team through major change including three mergers and acquisitions. He set a strategic vision which earned growth in both revenue and audience. He also held sales management positions at KWQC and WHBF in the Quad Cities.

Watt has a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Iowa State University.
