Golden Globes Decline With Ricky Gervais

The Golden Globe Awards came down some vs. last year’s broadcast, but the show still put up healthy numbers compared to the rest of network TV this season. The Ricky Gervais-hosted awards drew an average of 14.76 million viewers and a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49 in the fast nationals, down 6% in viewers and about 16% in the demo from preliminary figures in 2019.

Mission Stations Blacked Out To Dish Subs

Mission Broadcasting said its stations in 18 markets are no longer being carried by Dish Network because of a retransmission consent dispute. The stations were removed by Dish without warning Friday night, Mission said. The broadcaster said it had offered to extend its current agreement so viewers wouldn’t miss the beginning of the NFL playoff but Dish turned it down. Dish said the opposite happened, blaming Mission for the signals being pulled.

Deputy, Fox’s new cop drama, netted a decent debut Thursday night, bringing in a 0.7 rating in the key adult 18-49 demographic and 4.6 million total viewers. For context, the network’s Prodigal Son notched a 0.96 and 4 million viewers when it debuted in the fall, and CBS’s Carol’s Second Act and Bob Hearts Abishola scored around 6 million viewers apiece.

Fox’s ‘Flirty Dancing’ Takes A Tumble

Without the benefit of an NFL lead-in, the second episode of Fox’s Flirty Dancing took a sizable ratings hit on Wednesday. The unscripted series, in which singles learn half of a dance routine then meet their partner for the first time when they perform, had a decent debut on Dec. 29, when it scored a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.46 million following Fox’s NFL doubleheader. In its regular home, however, the show drew a 0.4 in the 18-49 demographic and 1.81 million viewers.
