
A Vizio executive says the company is not overly concerned with competition from Roku after the streaming platform announced its intention to design and make its own smart TVs. Speaking at the 25th annual Needham Growth Conference on Tuesday, Vizio Chief Revenue and Strategic Growth Officer Mike O’Donnell said his electronics company has been in the television space for more than two decades, and competition from other companies “is nothing new for us.”

Broadcast Could Gain From Enhancing Tech

This week’s CES event in Las Vegas will highlight solutions coupling interactive with measurement technologies for broadcasters, who have much to gain by upgrading their game to a more digital-like experience.

The live demo highlighted the enhanced geo-targeting capabilities, infotainment and real-time emergency information capabilities of ATSC 3.0.

Media previews start Tuesday and Wednesday, with the show opening Thursday and continuing through Sunday. Kinsey Fabrizio, senior vice president at the trade group Consumer Technology Association, said roughly 3,000 companies have signed up to attend the event.
