BET Names Two Digital SVPs

Simone Oliver is tapped as senior vice president of digital content, while Jason Odom becomes senior vice president of digital operations.

BET, a unit of Paramount, said that Simone Oliver joins the company as senior vice president of digital content and Jason Odom as senior vice president of digital operations. Both will contribute to the expansion of BET’s digital footprint, reporting directly to Kimberly Paige, BET executive vice president and chief marketing officer.

Simone Oliver

Simone Oliver will lead content across BET’s digital platforms, including BET.com and the company’s social channels. She will oversee the BET Editorial, Video, Branded Solutions, Digital Creative and Social teams. Oliver will also be responsible for honing BET’s voice across all platforms to drive growth and consumer engagement.

Oliver joins BET with almost 20 years of digital experience. Most recently, she was the global editor in chief at Refinery29, where she oversaw the multidisciplinary content teams across the U.S, Canada, U.K., Germany, France, Australia and New Zealand, including expanding Unbothered, R29’s sub-brand for young, Black people, into the U.K.

Jason Odom

Jason Odom will oversee content monetization opportunities, audience growth and BET’s digital platforms. He will work closely with Oliver and Paige to identify new revenue and content streams. A digital media executive with 20 years of experience leading digital strategy in entertainment and sports broadcasting, Odom most recently was director, product management for MotorTrend Group.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Before joining MotorTrend, he was the senior vice president, consulting for Two Circles (GroupM). He led digital media strategy for sports-based media companies and served as a senior strategic digital adviser for the Olympic Broadcasting Services leadership team.
