CBS Launches CBSN Denver

It marks the newest expansion of major market local news streaming services from CBS and features local news content produced by KCNC.

CBS Television Stations and CBS Interactive today announced the launch of CBSN Denver, the seventh of ViacomCBS’s 13 local direct-to-consumer streaming news services in major markets across the country. The new service’s lineup includes live streams of KCNC’s (CBS 4 Denver) regularly scheduled newscasts and coverage of breaking news.

CBSN Denver features anchored programming, coverage of live breaking news events in the region, as well as an extensive library of local news content that will be available for on-demand viewing.

CBS (now ViacomCBS) became the first major media company to launch a local OTT news service when CBSN New York debuted in December 2018. Since then, the company has launched CBSN Los Angeles (June 2019), CBSN Boston (September 2019), CBSN San Francisco Bay Area (November 2019), CBSN Minnesota (December 2019) and CBSN Philly (January 2020).

Following today’s launch of CBSN Denver, CBSN Pittsburgh is expected to make its debut later this month. During the next few months, ViacomCBS plans to launch CBSN Local services in the five remaining markets where the company has a local television news organization, including Chicago, Dallas-Ft. Worth, Miami, Sacramento and Baltimore.

“CBS 4 does a terrific job of ‘covering Colorado first.’ As the state prepares to hold its first presidential primary in two decades, this is a perfect time to broaden the reach of the station’s award-winning news coverage by launching CBSN Denver,” said Peter Dunn, President, CBS Television Stations. “The response to our first six launches is exceeding our expectations, and we look forward to seeing this trend continue in Denver and the six other markets where we will be rolling out these OTT services in the near future.”

“All of us here at CBS 4 are excited to have this tremendous opportunity to serve the rising demand for streaming news content by debuting CBSN Denver,” said Walt DeHaven, KCNC VP-GM. “Having the ability to provide our coverage of local and state news to viewers here in Colorado and across the country whenever and wherever they want is something we are embracing as a key driver of our future success.”

CBSN Denver is available through CBSN, on and on the CBS News apps for mobile and connected TV devices. In addition, the service is available through and the CBS Local mobile app.

CBSN Denver and the portfolio of CBSN Local services build on the success of CBSN, the pioneering 24/7 streaming news service from CBS News and CBS Interactive that delivers live national and global news coverage and in-depth reporting from CBS News’ team of trusted journalists. Launched in November 2014, the platform continues to drive strong and sustained viewership growth, delivering its best month of all time for streams and watch time in January 2020.

CBSN Local services are ad-supported. They complement CBS’s other streaming services, CBSN, CBS Sports HQ and ET Live, and will ultimately be included as live channels in CBS All Access in their respective markets.
