Minimizing Insider Threats Headlines CBR
Executives working on the front lines to curb the potential of insider cybersecurity threats will share their most effective tactics at TVNewsCheck’s Cybersecurity for Broadcasters Retreat.
Paul Capizzi, CIO and SVP, technology at Fox Corp.; Karen Gispanski, global business information security officer at Nielsen; John Reilly, executive director of IT and enterprise systems at KQED; and Tony Lauro, director of security technology and strategy at Akamai will appear on a panel, Minimizing Insider Threats at 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the Renaissance Hotel Sea World in Orlando, Fla.
Accidental and intentional cybersecurity breaches by employees comprise 40% of all breaches experienced by companies globally. They have emerged, along with the 2020 election, as a key concern for media companies.
“Most current cybersecurity software only protects the perimeter of a business and has little to no defense against an employee accidentally opening and clicking on a phishing email,” said Kathy Haley, TVNewsCheck publisher and co-founder. “Paul, Karen, John and Tony are confronting this threat head on at their respective companies and have developed strategies worth adopting by any broadcaster.”
TVNewsCheck’s Cybersecurity for Broadcasters Retreat gathers TV broadcasting’s engineering, IT and security communities to exchange information in a highly confidential setting. The retreat features Private Information Exchanges where broadcasters can safely discuss sensitive issues in a secure environment. Targeted educational sessions and networking time round out the experience. All CBR participants must sign a confidentiality agreement, and Chatham House Rules will be enforced.
The 2020 retreat will feature panels examining Engineering and IT: Breaking Down the Walls to Secure Production and Distribution; Planning Secure Mergers and Acquisitions; Securing the Television Supply Chain; a workshop on Securing the Newsroom Environment for the 2020 Election Season; and an Election Day 2020 Incident Response Simulation.
