New Rev Opportunities At OTT News Summit

The pandemic has ushered even larger audiences to the world of streaming, but can they be adequately monetized? A panel of OTT executives from NBCUniversal, E.W. Scripps, Sinclair and CBC will lay out their own approaches to growing revenue in an era of new challenges and opportunities in a panel at TVNewsCheck’s OTT News Summit on Sept. 25.

The panel, Monetizing OTT: New Opportunities in a Changed World, will feature Maggie Drake, senior director OTT revenue, The E.W. Scripps Co.; Brian Hunt, head of OTT/CTV advertising, Sinclair Digital Group; Roma Kojima, senior director, OTT video, CBC; and Shawn Makhijani, SVP of NBC Spot On and SVP of business development, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations. “COVID-19 has accelerated OTT’s audience growth and also its ultimate monetization potential,” said Michael Depp, TVNewsCheck’s editor. “Maggie, Brian, Roma and Shawn are spearheading efforts to drive up that revenue at their respective broadcasters and can speak to the very latest in AVOD and SVOD prospects. And Michael, who heads up streamer Local Now, is on OTT revenue’s front lines along with them.”


TVNewsCheck’s virtualized edition of its second annual OTT News Summit will run from Sept. 22 to 25, engaging the pandemic’s impact on the streaming value chain and how news organizations can take advantage of new opportunities in content, technology and monetization.

Attendees will participate in the live, daily, two-and-a-half-hour streamed sessions on Zoom Webinar, where they can pose questions to speakers, participate in live audience polling and wrap up the day with half-hour, open-mic roundtables on key issues.
