Sinclair Names VP Of Product Engineering

Amit Mathur comes to the broadcaster from Electronic Arts to grow Sinclair’s digital publishing platform and expanding suite of digital products and services.

Sinclair Broadcast Group has appointed Amit Mathur vice president of product engineering.

He will report to Kevin Cotlove, VP-GM of digital operations, and “will work to continue to scale Sinclair’s digital publishing platform and expanding suite of digital products and services.”

“I am thrilled to join Sinclair and have an opportunity to develop and enhance audience experiences that take advantage of the company’s expansive local news and content operations,” Mathur said. “Sinclair has a long track record of technical innovation and industry leadership. I’m excited to join the company and contribute to those continued efforts.”

In making the announcement, Cotlove said: “Amit brings a strong background of leadership and software engineering excellence, and his expertise in building large-scale consumer products will help position Sinclair for continued digital audience growth.”

Mathur most recently was the head of engineering of the player and developer experience team at Electronic Arts, where he led engineering, product management, program management, and quality assurance for EA’s digital gaming platform.

Prior to that he has held various leadership roles at Tango, a mobile social platform; Microsoft as an early member of the incubation team that built the Microsoft Azure cloud platform including Linux on Azure; and Symantec where he helped apply advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to detect unsafe websites.

Mathur holds a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign College of Engineering.
