TV station groups see significant opportunity in expanding their news and other local programming to serve audiences on streaming, NextGen TV, the web, mobile and in some cases their daytime lineups. How they’re managing to do it inside of their technology and staffing parameters will be the subject of a panel, Creating More Content for a Multimedia Audience, at TVNewsCheck’s TV2025: Monetizing the Future event at the NAB New York Show.

Steve Pruett, executive chairman, Cox Media Group; Frank Cicha, EVP programming, Fox Television Stations; Pat LaPlatney, co-CEO, Gray Television; Blake Russell, EVP, station operations and content development; and Mickey Miller, CEO, Vislink Technologies, will join TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp, the panel’s moderator, for the opening session of TV2025 at 9 a.m. on Oct. 19 at the Javits Center in New York.

“With content creation teams maxed out, station groups need to streamline traditional workflows to allow for news sharing, collaboration and easy reversioning for multiple platforms,” Depp said. “Steve, Frank, Pat and Blake will look at how hubbing, the cloud, AI and other technologies are powering this transformation and how busy news teams are being encouraged to change. We’ll also ask whether station groups will need to expand their teams and boost compensation.”

Additional TV2025 panels will cover NextGen, Streaming And The Future Of Local Media; Cybersecurity: Strategies for Mitigating Risk in a High Visibility Industry; How Data Will Redefine the TV/Audience Relationship; Technology, Data and the Future of Local TV Advertising; and Technology, the Cloud and the Station Group of the Future.

TVNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp will also moderate an annual conversation with station group leaders on the state of the industry, and E.W. Scripps’ President and CEO Adam Symson will accept TVNewsCheck’s Station Group of the Year Award on behalf of his company.
