Multimedia Journalist/Reporter

WOIO 19 News is seeking a full-time MMJ/Reporter. Our candidate will report on a variety of issues/events/subjects, including breaking news, enterprise and investigative topics.

Must be a creative story-teller with strong live skills.

The primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

– Candidate must be able to lift/carry video equipment and be capable of shooting, writing, editing and posting multiple stories daily on air, on-line, mobile technology and social networking websites all under tight deadlines.
– Must be a good, creative writer, have an inquisitive mind, very strong journalist, great communicator and a positive leader inside and outside the newsroom.
– Must learn the difference between television writing and writing for the web.
– Must demonstrate the ability to produce high levels of reporting, including investigative stories.
– Must have the desire to pursue breaking news to turn the lead story every night.
– Must contribute daily to all social media platforms to help recruit viewers to television newscasts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Applicant should have a minimum of 3-years’ experience.
  • Experience with newsroom computer systems preferred.
  • Bilingual journalism skills also preferred.

Broadcast Engineer/IT Engineer

WOIO is seeking a full-time Broadcast Engineer/IT Engineer.

A broadcast engineer works with hardware and broadcast systems that are used across television, radio and new media.

They make sure that shows are broadcast on time and to the highest level of quality.

As well as operating and maintaining the systems, they also carry out updates and repairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Support engineering aspects of the technical facility including studio support, post editing systems, field production support and transmission of live/recorded events & programs
    • Have knowledge regarding broadcast equipment, technology, and systems and be able to step in an assist in emergency situations
    • Performs regular maintenance tasks including repairs, equipment replacement, supplies, etc.
    • Documents and executes necessary corrective actions
    • Ensures all transmission equipment is operating correctly before and during live event telecasts – corrects and documents technical problems
    • Assist with implementing Engineering projects
    • Maintains building needs
    • Have working knowledge of the latest operating systems software, including server and desktop operating systems
    • Familiar with networking and IP addressing
    • Must be available to work during breaking news situations, severe weather, new system integrations and updates
    • Display and maintain professional appearance, based on station standards and professional demeanor

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of professional or broadcast experience preferred
    • A Bachelor’s Degree or similar certification is preferred, but is not required, as is previous working experience in engineering
    • Strong leadership skills and ability to operate in high pressure situations
    • Knowledge of professional video photography equipment and techniques
    • Ability to learn and adapt quickly to all work situations
    • Must be able to work varying hours and weekends
    • Professional, communicative, highly self-motivated, detail oriented, and focused individual traits

Creative Services Producer

Producer for local talk/entertainment show.

Will work on all elements of the show including writing, shooting, editing and show producing from the control room.

Creating content for LIVE daily entertainment show, commercials, and promos.

Responsibilities will include writing, shooting, editing, and show producing.

Will be working with a team of award-winning producers and talent in the studio, the control room and out in the field every week.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have experience writing, lighting, shooting and editing video projects.
  • Special editing skills using the Adobe Suite including Premiere and After Effects.
  • Great people skills working with teams and clients.
  • LIVE control room producing a plus!
