Job Summary:
WNEM, a Meredith Corporation TV station, is recruiting for a Creative Services Director. The successful Creative Services Director must be innovative, creative and a leader ready to push the business of media marketing and management forward. Must have strong organizational, communication and management skills, hands on writing and producing skills as well as a strong understanding of topical news promotion to grow the market leader. 

Candidate will create promotional content to grow and retain audiences across all media distribution platforms. CSD oversees and develops the brand messaging for all platforms.  This candidate will have frequent interaction with other department leaders, Regional VP and consultants and serves as the leader in developing and executing the station marketing plan to drive ratings growth. This position is also responsible for overseeing programming promotion, commercial production, and graphic arts.

Essential Job Functions:

25%-Work closely with the News Director and news staff to develop/execute powerful topicals and image spots that reflect the direction of station’s news brand.
25%-Market all station social media initiatives, working closely with the news /digital team to identify daily opportunities to reach the target audience.
20%-Operates as part of the station leadership to promote interdepartmental communication and achieve departmental as well as station key priorities
15%-Work closely and stay in communication with affiliate marketing reps to maximize the network affiliation.
5%-Oversee public relations, station news releases, and community partnerships.
5%-Recruits and retains high performing staff through effective management, compensation planning, evaluations, training and engagement activities.
5%-Work closely with legal to make sure all contests are properly vetted.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements|All must be met to be considered:

Education: BA or BS in Advertising, Marketing or Broadcasting preferred.

Experience: Three years’ experience in advertising, marketing or promotion with progressive managerial responsibilities – minimum of two years in the television industry.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Must possess strong advertising, marketing, promotion, broadcast production and budgeting skills. Excellent leadership skills. Strong problem-solving skills. excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must work well with General Manager, and all Department Heads to position the station brand and execute ideas  Knowledge of and experience in social media marketing and promotion. Strong knowledge of broadcast news promotion. Ability to create and execute media plans and events. Creative skills including editing, shooting, etc are required.

Travel Required (Approximate) 20% Local Travel
