Annie Yu Joins WUSA Washington News

WUSA, Tegna’s CBS affiliate in Washington (DMA 6), has hired Annie Yu as anchor of Wake Up Washington, the morning show that airs from 4:30-6 a.m. weekday mornings.

In addition, Yu will appear on Get Up DC, which airs weekdays at 6-7 a.m. Yu, who was raised in the D.C. area, comes to WUSA after most recently serving as a co-anchor and reporter at WTTG Washington.

Yu joined WTTG in 2004 as an intern and served in various roles including assignment editor, traffic producer and segment producer. She most recently co-anchored the station’s weekend morning show.

During her career, Yu has covered presidential elections, races for Virginia and Maryland governor and Washington mayor and the dedication of the 9/11 Pentagon memorial. She also worked with military dogs at Andrews Air Force Base and helped find permanent homes for lost and abused animals through a weekly on-air segment.

Yu was born in Korea and moved to Northern Virginia with her family when she was 3 years old. She graduated from George Mason University and was a cheerleader for the Washington Redskins from 2008 to 2011.
