Telemundo-owned WNJU New York has added veteran journalist David Rodriguez to the station’s news team. Rodriguez will co-anchor the 5 p.m. weekday edition of Noticiero 47 Telemundo and also work as a general assignment reporter, regularly appearing on the 11 p.m. weekday newscasts. He joins the station on Monday, March 16, with his first on-air appearance expected later that month.

With nearly two decades of experience reporting news for Spanish-language audiences within the country’s most diverse markets, Rodriguez joins WNJU’s news team after eight years as a morning news anchor and general assignment reporter for Telemundo’s WSCV Miami.

Rodriguez has been recognized with 13 local Emmy awards, including ones for investigative reporting, news specials and on-air talent.

A native of Carolina, P.R., Rodriguez has extensively chronicled the island’s post-Maria recovery and rebuilding efforts over the past two years as part of Telemundo Station’s coverage pool and Telemundo Network, including for Noticias Telemundo and Un Nuevo Dia.

Prior to joining WSCV, Rodriguez worked as a reporter and producer on WKAQ-AM, the first radio station established in Puerto Rico.  He also worked as a member of Univision Puerto Rico’s television news team.

Rodriguez is a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and earned a bachelor’s degree in public communication from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. He later earned a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Barcelona, earning the degree through a dual program administered with Columbia University.
