Fox News Signs Johnny ‘Joey’ Jones As Contributor

Fox News Channel has named retired Staff Sergeant Johnny “Joey” Jones as a contributor effective today. In this capacity, Jones will provide military analysis across all Fox News Media platforms, including FNC, Fox Business Network and Fox Nation. He will make his official debut as a network contributor during Fox & Friends on Wednesday, July 31.

Following two combat deployments and eight years of active service in the Marine Corps, Jones suffered a life-changing injury while deployed in Afghanistan as an explosive ordnance disposal  technician. The 2010 IED-related incident resulted in the loss of both of his legs above the knee and severe damage to his right forearm and both wrists. Since his recovery, Jones has dedicated his work to improving the lives of all veterans and their families.

Currently, Jones is a senior policy adviser to many military initiatives and Veteran Service Organizations). He also shares his experiences as a motivational speaker and leadership consultant through Marcus Luttrell’s Team Never Quit Bureau. Most recently Jones designed and piloted a Warrior Week military transition program as the senior adviser to military programming at Zac Brown’s Camp Southern Ground.

Prior to this role, Jones served as the COO for the national nonprofit Boot Campaign. In this capacity, he focused on educating the public on the issues pressing veterans and their families.

While recovering, Jones instituted a peer visit program at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Washington, D.C following his injuries. Notably, Jones went on to create a fellowship on Capitol Hill with the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, where his contributions resulted in direct policy changes within the Veterans Administration and Department of Defense.

In 2012, President Barack Obama invited Jones to the White House to discuss challenges facing active duty and retired service members. Jones has also held discussions on the topic with former President George W. Bush, former Marine Corps Commandant James Amos, cabinet officials and congressional leaders.

Raised in Dalton, Georgia, Jones enlisted in the Marine Corps after high school, where he was deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. Following his 2012 discharge from Walter Reed, Jones attended Georgetown University and received his Bachelor of Arts degree.
