InvestigateTV Adds Show On Watchdog Journs

InvestigateTV, Raycom Media’s OTT app, is adding a new show putting watchdog journalists in the spotlight. The show, called Post, is a new media review program presented in partnership with Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE).

Each episode will feature a staff member from IRE discussing the latest investigations from around the world with Jamie Grey, host and Raycom Media investigative producer.

Post begins streaming Aug. 27. The first episode features a publisher with a David and Goliath story. When Les Zaitz’s small-town paper tried to get records related to a murder investigation, a government agency sued the publication and him. He tells the story of crowd-funding a legal defense and how his paper fought back for information and won. The monthly program is recorded at the Reynolds Journalism Institute (RJI) at the University of Missouri.

Post comes at a critical time. The public needs more and better investigative journalism at the local level, but resources are shrinking,” RJI Associate Director Mike McKean said. “RJI is pleased to offer its expertise, alongside our colleagues at IRE, to back this program. And we greatly appreciate Raycom Media’s willingness to let us share with other news professionals the tips and inspiration they’re offering their own reporters.”

IRE Executive Director Doug Haddix says it’s more critical now, than ever, to share with the public the valuable work done by journalists every day to serve their communities.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Raycom Media on this innovative program,” said Haddix. “We’re looking forward to taking viewers behind the scenes of critical investigations and showing their positive effect in communities across America.”
