Iris Rodriguez Named KTLM News Director

The 15-year media veteran is promoted from executive producer to oversee multiplatform news efforts at the Telemundo-owned station in South Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.

Telemundo-owned KTLM Harlingen, Texas, has promoted Iris Rodriguez to news director effective immediately. She will be in charge of the overall operations and performance of the station’s newsroom, including the news productions across multiple media platforms.

“Iris is an experienced news leader with a unique vision of the current media landscape and a keen sense for innovation,” said Jose Flores, KTLM president-GM. “She has not only fostered a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in our station, but also one of collaboration. Last year, Iris helped us find ways to pivot to what our new work normal would be, and quickly jumped in to help our teams produce our shows from home to ensure that our news programs ran smoothly and our audiences had the vital information they needed during one of the busiest news years in recent memory.”

Rodriguez, a Lone Star Emmy and Regional Edward R. Murrow awards winner, among others, is a media veteran with more than 15 years of experience in broadcasting. She has held various newsroom positions with increasing responsibility throughout the years. Most recently, since 2015, she has been KTLM executive producer.

Before this, she was news assignment editor and then as news producer at KXTX Dallas and news producer/news assignment editor for Entravision Communications in McAllen, Texas.

Rodriguez earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from The University of Texas Pan American.
